Homeless man found dead in Dublin city centre

A homeless man was found dead in Dublin city centre this morning – once again highlighting the tragedy of Ireland’s ongoing homelessness crisis, a year after Jonathan Corrie died near Leinster House in similar circumstances.

The discovery of the man’s body was made this morning at Dawson Lane during the morning rush hour.

The laneways around the area are often frequented by people sleeping rough, and many spoke of knowing the man who died.

As gardai attended the scene early this morning a sheet covered the man’s body in the lane.

The scene of the tragedy is just a few hundred yards from where Jonathan Corrie passed away last December  – an incident which caused outcry and sustained calls for the Government to do something to resolve the homelessness crisis.
