A neighbour has been hailed a hero today after pulling a woman unconscious from a fire in Coolock in Dublin last night.

The blaze broke out at an apartment in Cromcastle Court just before midnight.

Three units of Dublin Fire Brigade, an emergency tender and an ambulance raced to the scene along with a district officer.

When they arrived the neighbour was pulling the victim unconscious from the fire onto a balcony.

Fire crews then got the 45-year-old woman down from the building and she was rushed to hospital.

Her condition is not known this morning but fire crews have praised the quick-thinking neighbour for their actions.
