GSOC confirm they're investigating crash that left two dead in Donegal
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) have confirmed they are investigating a crash that happened in Donegal this morning that left two young men dead.
The two men, one understood to be in his late teens and the other in his 20s, died following the early morning collision.
At 4:45am the car they were travelling in collided with a van on the inbound carriageway of the N13 at Trimragh, Letterkenny, Co Donegal.
The two men were pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the van was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, Letterkenny.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
This evening GSOC have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
In a statement released to the Sunday World, GSOC said of the crash: "It was referred to GSOC in line with normal procedure when it appears that the conduct of a Garda member may have resulted in death or serious harm.
"It appears that there had been some interaction between gardaí and the vehicle in which the two young men were travelling prior to the collision.
"GSOC will examine the circumstances to establish the facts in this regard.
