German teen suffers broken bones in cliff fall in Co Clare

A GERMAN teenager has been airlifted to hospital after falling from a cliff in Co Clare.

The 14-year-old who had been holidaying in Ireland with his family fell at the Loop Head Peninsula around 9.30am this morning.

He suffered injuries after he fell 25ft onto rocks at the Bridges Of Ross.

The Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard and the Shannon-based search-and-rescue helicopter were dispatched to the incident.

He was rescued from the bottom of a cliff during a two hour operation and winched from the scene by helicopter.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he is being treated for multiple injuries including fractures to his skull and legs.
