Gas Networks Ireland crews are currently on the scene of a suspected gas leak on Dublin's north quays.

Motorists were asked to avoid the North Wall Quay area in Dublin and a building was evacuated following reports of a suspected gas leak.

Gas Networks Ireland confirmed they are on site and "working to repair third party damaged gas pipeline".

Gardaí told Independent.ie they are diverting traffic from the area, with Custom House Quay partially open to traffic.

It is understood the CHQ Building was evacuated after the report of the smell of gas.

Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene with four units.

The Luas Red Line stopped services to the IFSC area earlier, but have since started running services again.

There was no service between Georges Dock and The Point in both directions during the suspension.

Customers are now expected to have delays of up to one hour.

"Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Services for the duration of the disruption.

"Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience."
