Gardai uncover counterfeit bottle-labelling plant producing knock-off vodka
Gardai and Customs enforcement officers from Revenue have seized more than 4,000 bottles of counterfeit vodka, labels and fake UK tax stamps after they busted a large scale, illegal vodka plant.
The raid was conducted in Co Louth last night.
Seven vehicles (3 cars and 4 trucks) and €7000 in cash were also seized.
The vehicles were seized by Revenue officers for mineral oil tax offences.
The discovery was made in the course of a joint agency operation focused on combating organised criminality in the Louth area.
Seven individuals (four Northern Ireland residents & three Republic of Ireland residents) who were found at the scene were detained and questioned by Gardaí.
There were no arrests and the investigations are ongoing.
