Gardai have made a fresh appeal to the parents as they released some initial findings from the post mortem.

According to a statement issued this evening by gardai, the findings of the post mortem would suggest that the baby was born some weeks earlier than initially thought.

However, there is nothing to suggest deliberate injuries were caused to the baby.

What has been confirmed is that the baby is female and Caucasian.

The body of the infant was found at the Greenstar recycling plant in Bray, Co Wicklow yesterday afternoon and gardai have been at the scene since as they try to identify the identity of the little girl.

Superintendent Pat Ward reiterated that he is very concerned for the welfare of the mum of this baby girl as she is possibly in a distressed state and in need of medical assistance.

He stated "I would please ask for the mum to seek immediate medical treatment.  I am available here at Bray Garda Station to help the mum and dad of this baby girl and if they would contact me or Sergeant Sorcha Fitzpatrick here at Bray Garda Station we will deal with any contact with us discreetly and sensitively.”
Superintendent Ward issued a further appeal to anyone, particularly family members who may have any information, however small, that can assist him with the investigation to contact them at Bray Garda Station on 01- 6665300, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
