Gardai recovered the body of a male from the River Liffey just after 2pm today.

A large scale rescue operation had been launched earlier in the day with Gardai and the Fire Brigade assisting the Coast Guard and RNLI.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed the operation was focused around the Talbot Memorial Bridge, close to the Custom House.

An individual believed to be a male was reported to have entered the water near the CHQ building in the IFSC at approximately 10.12am.

A garda spokesperson told sundayworld.com that this is being treated as a tragic incident.
