Gardai make large cocaine bust

Two men aged 57 and 40 years are in custody following the seizure of €280,000 worth of cocaine.

The drugs were seized in Drogheda, Co Louth, yesterday.

The two men were arrested following the interception of two vehicles at around 7.30pm.

The bust, which was part of Operation Scale, involved local gardai, the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the PSNI.

The men remain in custody at Drogheda Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

During this operation searches were also conducted at a number of premises located in Newry, Co Armagh and the Dublin Region.
