Gardai launch investigation after body found in River Liffey

Gardai are investigating after a body was spotted floating in the River Liffey this morning.

Officers from Store Street station were called to scene near Tara Street after the remains were spotted by a member of the public at approximately 10.15am.

Dublin Fire Brigade Water Unit recovered the body, which was then handed over to gardai for a full forensic examination.

The cause of death has not yet been identified.

Attempts are underway to identify the deceased person.

A garda spokesperson said an investigation is ongoing.
