Gardai issue warning over man 'taking pictures of kids' at beach
A man was spotted photographing children as they played on a beach in the recent spell of warm weather, gardai have warned the public.
Gardai told Independent.ie that a man, believed to be his thirties, was sitting on a blanket on Banna beach in Tralee.
He had an empty buggy with him and was reportedly snapping pictures of kids playing.
The incident occurred on June 1 but the man and his vehicle were not identified by gardai.
A distressed mother noticed that he was taking pictures in the direction of her son, niece and nephew.
A post on the Facebook group 'Bullying in the Kingdom' detailed how the man ignored her requests to stop taking photographs.
“When she approached him, he fogged her off and continued to take pictures in the direction of other kids playing. Once he was finished doing what he was doing, he walked off, taking the empty buggy with him,” the post said.
The man was then seen joining another man in the car park area of the beach.
Local politician Graham Spring said that Kerry's beaches are usually 'family friendly' and he wasn't aware of an incident like this happening before in the area.
Tralee Garda Station asked the public to be vigilant and to contact them if they witness similar behaviour.
