Gardai investigating after man car-jacked going to meet online woman
Gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery and car-jacking which happened in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Officers in Dundalk, Louth are appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which occurred at Boyd’s car park on the Long Walk.
The victim said he scheduled a late-night meeting in the vicinity with a woman he'd previously met online.
However, he was approached by a man - believed to be in his 30s - who was armed with a knife.
The 38-year-old man was forced to empty his pockets before the perpetrator demanded the keys to his vehicle.
The robber continued to threaten the victim until he forced him to explain how to put the automatic 4X4 vehicle into gear. He then fled the scene in the vehicle with an iPhone and a sum of cash.
The vehicle was recovered in the Oakland Park area at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.
