Gardai have confirmed they are investigating reports of a man making a 'suspicious approach' to a 13-year-old in Limerick.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at around 5pm yesterday evening in the Grange housing estate in the Raheen area of Limerick.

Gardai have confirmed to the Sunday World that CCTV in the area is being checked by officers at Roxboro Road station.

Earlier today local Fine gael councillor Daniel Butler tweeted out a description of the man at the centre of the alleged incident.

Butler told the Limerick Leader that the man asked the boy to get into his car before offering him money to do so before driving away when the boy refused.

According to the Garda press office, investigations are ongoing.
