It is being reported today that Gardai believe the machine gun and ammo seized last night may have been destined for use in the murderous gangland feud led by the Kinahan cartel.

Gardai from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, including the Serious Crime Task Force supported by local gardai, carried out a search of an apartment in the Castleknock area of Dublin yesterday.

During the course of the search, a submachine gun and ammunition were recovered.

A large quantity of cocaine, reported to be six kilos valued at €400,000, was also discovered.

Drug paraphernalia, along with mixing agents, were further recovered during the course of the raid.

The raid was conducted as part of a significant investigation into serious organised crime in the Dublin region.

A man in his 30s, who has connections to senior members of the Kinahan cartel, has been arrested in connection with the investigation.
