Man charged in connection with fatal shooting in Athy
A 42-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Jason Doogue last Friday
A 42-year-old man named Jimmy Lammon has appeared in court charged with the murder of Jason Doogue last Friday night.
Lammon of Cardington Way, Athy, appeared before a special sitting of Naas District Court this evening.
Detective Sergeant Sean Boland told the court Mr Lammon was charged today at 8.20pm.
Mr Lammon was remanded in custody and will appear before Cloverhill District Court next Wednesday at 10.30am.
He was arrested at his home around an hour after Mr Doogue was shot dead.
Unshaved and dressed in a red sweater, the accused remained silent throughout the brief hearing.
Gardaí have charged a man, aged in his 40s, in connection with the fatal shooting of a man which occurred in the Greenhills area of Athy, County Kildare on Friday 21st August 2015.
The man is due to appear before a special sitting of Naas District Court this evening, at 9.30pm.
Doogue was shot dead in the Greenhills area of Athy, County Kildare last Friday.
A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested this morning Kildare area and is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Naas Garda Station.
During this investigation Gardaí have recovered four firearms, a quantity of ammunition and controlled drugs in ongoing searches being carried out in the Athy area.
Three people, two men and one woman, arrested in connection with this investigation remain in Garda custody detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Naas, Kildare and Newbridge Garda Stations.
Two males, a juvenile and one aged in his late teens, have been released from Garda custody without charge.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
