Gardai arrest 22-year-old after man shot in Limerick yesterday

A MAN has been arrested after a shooting in Limerick yesterday when a man on a bicycle shot another man at a premises.

A 22-year-old man was arrested following the incident at Hyde Road, Limerick yesterday afternoon shortly after 2pm.

The 42-year-old man was rushed to Limerick University Hospital to be treated for his gunshot wounds.

A garda spokesman said: "A 42-year-old man received gunshot injuries when a lone male on a bicycle approached a premises and discharged a firearm.

"The man was taken to Limerick University Hospital with non life threatening injuries, and gardaí later arrested a 22-year-old man and recovered a firearm and ammunition.

"The man is currently detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended."

The suspect can be held for questioning for 72 hours.
