Gardai appeal for information following discovery of body

Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of the body in Dublin on Thursday 3rd of December.

52-year-old John Stewart’s body was discovered in an apartment near Clanbrassil Street, Dublin 8.

It was initially though that Mr Stewart had taken his own life when he was found with injuries which was believed to be self inflicted.

Mr Stewart had suffered with a mental health condition and his His apartment had also been locked from the inside, when his body was found. 

However, the multiple rib fractures were discovered during the post mortem, prompting gardai to upgrade the investigation.

Gardaí are anxious to trace John Stewart’s movements between Tuesday 1st December and Wednesday 2nd December 2015.

It is believed that John may have spent some time in Dublin City Centre during this period. It is also believed that he was wearing a grey puffy (padded) zip up coat, light coloured jeans and a grey woolly hat.

John is described as being 5ft 10 inches in height and of average build.
