Gardai appeal after man on horse drawn cart killed in collision

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a single-vehicle collision which occurred in Kilmacanogue last night.

Officers in Wicklow are investigating the fatal road traffic collision, which occurred on Red Lane, Calary, Kilmacanogue yesterday evening.

At approximately 8.15pm, a 44-year-old man was travelling on a horse drawn cart when it appears he fell from it.

The collision occurred on the road from the Sugarloaf car park towards the N11, Gardai said. 

Emergency services were called and he was removed by ambulance to St. Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin 4. However, he was pronounced dead a short time later. 

There was no other persons on the cart at the time.

The scene has been preserved and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will carry out an investigation of the area. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was travelling on Red Lane, Calary at the time to contact them.
