Gardai are appealing to the public for witnesses to a fatal collision which occurred late last night.

Officers in Ballinasloe, County Galway are investigating the single vehicle fatal road traffic collision, which occurred at Cloonkeenkerrill, Colemanstown, at approximately 10.37pm.
 
A 31-year-male, who was the single occupant of the vehicle, was fatally injured when his car collided with a tree.
 
Emergency services were called but he was pronounced dead at the scene. 
 
His body has been removed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe for a post-mortem examination. 
 
The road is closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation of the area and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours. Diversions are in place in the area.
