Gardai to be out in force this weekend to promote safe driving

Gardai and the RSA have appealed to drivers in the run up to the June Bank Holiday weekend to save lives by reducing speed.

The RSA reports that over 70,000 speeding offences have already been detected so far in 2015.

Over the next three months it is possible that 51 lives could be lost in summer time crashes on the nation’s roads, according to the RSA.

Gardai are expected to announce more details on their plan to catch speeding motorists tomorrow but a wide campaign to make the nation's roads safer is on the cards.

On Friday 29th of May, and Monday 1st of June Applegreen will provide free coffee to tired drivers between 2pm and 8pm at 17 participating service stations around the country.
