Garda strikes still scheduled to go ahead as first November date fast approaches
The Garda Representative Association (GRA) has confirmed that November's planned Garda strikes will go ahead.
The decision of Conference to proceed with industrial action on November 4, 11, 18 and 25 made on September 28 remains in place, unless they hear of substantial and significant progress towards real and tangible increases in pay.
In order to progress the negotiations, the GRA Central Executive Committee has agreed to ballot the membership of the GRA on any non-binding recommendations of the Labour Court.
The Labour Court requires that the distribution of such ballots to the membership be agreed as a prerequisite before it can hear the case.
The Association remains fully engaged in the negotiation process.
The GRA's negotiating team was attending the Labour Court this evening.
The hearings are being convened after the two garda bodies rejected a €30.5m deal that would have increased garda pay by almost €2,500 a year.
Strikes are planned on every Friday this month.
