Garda speed monitoring vehicle to be stationed on Dublin road this evening
Gardai will be deploying the fully marked “Garda Robot Vehicle” to monitor speed at the M11 northbound sections approaching the Loughlinstown roundabout, this evening.
The move comes following a number of complaints about the Loughlinstown roundabout.
According to gardai the complaints particularly referred to the difficulties encountered by drivers entering the roundabout, due to motorists exceeding the speed limit on the northbound section of the M11 as it approached the roundabout.
The area in question is 80 kph dropping to 50 kph at the approach to the roundabout
Speed checks were mounted in this are on the 12th and 13th of April, 500 metres before the roundabout in the 80kph area.
On the 12th of April the speed can was active between 10:15am and 1:15pm; during this time a total of 141 fixed notice charges were issued to speeding drivers.
On the 13th of April 2016 the van was deployed between 7am and 9.30am and 101 fixed charge notices were issued.
The speed checks will be in operation this evening at the Loughlinstown Roundabout and will monitor compliance with the speed limit.
