Feared gangland brothers from Limerick arrested by armed Gardai

Two of Limerick's most well-known gang figures have been arrested in a targetted Garda operation.

The Gardai raided a home in the St Mary's Park area of the city and found the two men, aged in their 40s, with a quantity of heroin valued at €50,000.

The two suspects are being detained at Henry Street Garda Station, under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

They can be held for up to seven days without charge.

The Armed Regional Response Unit supported local armed Gardai to carry out the raid.

The two men arrested have a number of previous convictions and they are said to 'sworn enemies' of the Ryan/McCarthy and Dundon mobs.
