There are reports of an attack on a house in Co Wexford which is home to a Roma family.

The incident, which took place on June 19 at around 11pm, saw two cars damaged as well as the house, but no one was reported to be seriously hurt.

It is believed a gang of around 20 people armed with baseball bats and hurleys descended on the house in New Ross’s Neville Street and proceeded to smash windows and kick in the front door of the house while hurling abuse and insults at the terrified family inside.

The 14 people inside had previously been subjected to abuse on social media outlets.

Gardai say an investigation is ongoing but no arrests have yet been made, and are appealing for witnessed to contact them on the Garda Confidential Line on  1800 666111.
