FSAI issue two closure orders against food businesses in October

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland have just issued their monthly report and three businesses have been hit with orders.

There were two closure orders this month.

The first was for Curry Leaf (restaurant), 79 Leinster Street, Athy, Kildare, under the FSAI ACt, 1998.

The second was The Crescent View Restaurant, Crescent Mall, Crescent Quay, Wexford. They faced sanction under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010.

The third and final order this month was a prohibition order, issued to Ina's Kitchen Desserts Limited (bakery/confectionery), Unit 9, Beechlawn Industrial Complex, Walkinstown, Dublin 12.

Commenting on these latest Enforcement Orders, Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive, FSAI stated that food businesses need to be vigilant at all times in relation to food safety to ensure full compliance with food legislation.

Dr Byrne said: “Food businesses must recognise that the legal onus is on them to make sure that the food they sell or serve is safe to eat. This requires ongoing compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. Food businesses should take full advantage of the information and support provided by the inspectorate and the FSAI.
