AFP are reporting that 100 people are dead following the hostage situation at a concert venue in Paris.

Initial reports also say that two attackers were killed by police.

Earlier it had been reported that about 100 people were being held hostage at the venue.

The famous venue was playing host to a gig by the Eagles of Death Metal tonight and there were reports earlier tonight that shots could be heard coming from inside the venue.

The site of the hostage situation is only a couple of hundred metres from the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which was attack by terrorists in January.

The band themselves posted an update on their Facebook page.

We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.
