Fogging hell; Second highest weather warning issued for Ireland

Met Eireann has announced a Status Orange Weather Warning for the country today due to thick fog

A status orange fog warning remains in place until midday today with dense fog affecting many parts of the country.

AA Roadwatch are reminding motorists to keep their fog lights on to ensure visibility.

Meanwhile, today will be mainly cold and dry with frost and fog beginning to clear in the early afternoon.

The east of Ireland can expect some sunny spells but you’ll need gloves and hats as well as the sunglasses, with highest temperatures of just 2 to 4 degrees.

Munster and Ulster will see some milder temperatures with highs of 6 to 9 degrees.

Tonight will be bitterly cold with temperatures dropping to as low as -5 degrees across Leinster, Connacht and Ulster.

Dense fog is also expected to return tonight.

Next week looks to be a bleak one with more changeable and unsettled weather as wet and windy conditions are expected.
