Firefighters battled a fire on the southside of Dublin city today, the second serious incident in less than 24 hours

A major fire in Carrickmines required the Dublin fire brigade to deploy a number of units this afternoon.

The fire was thought to be coming from an underground car park and it threw a huge plume of smoke into the air before it was tamed by the fire brigade.

Also, an incident took place in the Robinhood Industrial Estate last night.

Three units from the Dolphin's Barn and Tallaght fire stations fought the tyre and container fire.

Foam was used to suppress the fire.

There were no reports of any injuries in the incident.

Dublin Fire Brigade shared photographs of the incident on their official Twitter account.
