Gardai are appealing to the public for witnesses to a fatal collision in which a pedestrian was killed.

Investigating officers in Clontarf are probing the fatal road traffic collision that occured at Howth Road/Collins Avenue East junction this afternoon. 
 
At approximately 12.30pm, a female pedestrian in her early 70s was involved in a collision with a car. 
 
Emergency services were called the woman was rushed to the Mater Hospital, where she later passed away. 
The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened to traffic. 
Garda Forensic Collision investigators have carried out an examination at the scene.
