Female carer probed for ‘pinching woman’s breasts’

A female heathcare worker is under investigation for allegedly pinching the breasts of a physically disabled woman for whom she was caring.

The woman, who is aged in her 30s, was arrested on Friday in the Midlands before being later released without charge.

Gardai are now preparing a file for the DPP.

Despite the fact that the care worker is alleged to have pinched the woman’s breasts, gardai do not believe there was a sexual motive for the incident and she was not questioned on that basis.

“It is not believed there is a sexual link, even though the allegation is that the lady’s breasts were pinched and nipped,” a source told The Irish Daily Star.

“Investigators are looking more at an assault.”

Gardai began their inquiry after a GP noticed marks on the woman’s breasts and became suspicious.

Reports indicate that it is likely to be several months before any decision is made on whether the woman should be charged.

The Star reports that gardai are now examining client records of another care facility where the woman previous worked.
