Famous rugby commentator Fred Cogley passes away aged 82
RTE have confirmed that their former head of sport and the voice of rugby in Ireland for many years, Fred Cogley, has passed away aged 82.
Cogley began his career in radio in 1950 and he was the man who commentated on rugby for almost half a century on TV and radio.
He also presented Sports Stadium from 1973 until 1997.
Tributes have been paid to Cogley from the current head of RTE Sport, Ryle Nugent.
