Fair City star settles with RTE at Employment Appeals Tribunal
Former 'Fair City' star Tom Hopkins has settled a case in the Employment Appeals Tribunal against RTÉ.
The actor starred in the country's longest-running soap for more than 16 years as the hapless grocer Christy Phelan before his character was killed off last year.
He was last seen on screen in September 2014. Viewers were left heartbroken when Christy, who ran Carrigstown grocery shop, died a lonely death after his son-in-law left him alone to die following a heart attack.
The Dublin native was present in the Employment Appeals Tribunal yesterday morning, where he confirmed he had settled the case for an undisclosed sum.
The Employment Appeals Tribunal (EAT) is part of the Workplace Relations Commission and typically hears cases relating to employment issues, which include unfair dismissal and payment of wages claim.
However, it is not known what claim Mr Hopkins was making against RTÉ.
