EXCLUSIVE: Moone Boy The Movie is happening
Moone Boy fans are in for a treat as one of its biggest stars admits the show WILL be back but as a movie and NOT a fourth TV series.
Deirdre O’Kane, who plays Debra Moone in the Sky One show, told sundayworld.com this morning that we won’t have to wait long for confirmation of a big screen version of the hilarious show.
“I don’t think we’ll ever see Moone Boy back on the telly but they [writers Chris O’Dowd and Nick Murphy] want to make the movie. So, I can see that happening.”
It was widely believed that Boyle man O’Dowd would not be able to find time between fatherhood and his bustling Hollywood career but O’Kane does not agree: “Both Chris and Nick love the project so much. It’s their baby. I really do believe the movie will be made.”
So, does that mean she would be willing to work on it? “Ha, I never say no to a movie. Working on Moone Boy is so much fun. I loved it all and the fact that the viewers loved it too means so much to us. So I would definitely be interested in working the movie.”
We were chatting to Deirdre at the launch of Irish Life’s new study that researched thousands of Irish mammies to discover their habits.
Irish Life, Ireland’s leading life insurance company, today announced new research findings which show the lengths Irish Mums will go to protect their children, along with some of the sayings that make Irish mammies so treasured! Moone Boy mammy, Deirdre O’Kane was on hand to remind mums that the best way to protect their family is by protecting themselves, as just over half a million Irish families don’t have life insurance cover in Ireland.
