Elderly man killed in two-car collision

A man in his early 70s was killed in a fatal two-car crash in Tipperary yesterday, while the female driver of the second car was hospitalised with serious injuries.

Gardai in Borrisokane, Co Tipperary, are investigating a two-car fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Fortmoy Cross, Borrisokane, at approximately 5.15pm yesterday afternoon.

A male driver in his early 70s, who was the car’s sole occupant, was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with another car.

The second driver, a female in her mid-60s who was also a sole occupant, was removed to Limerick University Hospital with serious injuries. 
 
The road is currently closed pending the completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
