Ebay to close operation in Dundalk with loss of 150 jobs

Ebay are set to announce the closure of their operation in Dundalk, Co Louth.It is understood the company will continue to employ staff elsewhere in Ireland.

The job losses are expected to be offset by additional positions at their former sister company PayPal, which is also located in the Co Louth town.

eBay are expected to make a formal announcement later today.

It's believed the decision will affect approximately 150 jobs.

The company opened its European centre in Dundalk April 2013.

Independent.ie has learned that a meeting took place earlier today and staff were informed of the decision to shut its Dundalk operations from in the second quarter of 2017.

It is not currently known if staff will be offered moves to the firm's site at Blanchardstown.

There will be no impact on existing PayPal jobs.
