UFC champion Conor McGregor has outraged a number of his fans by appearing to film himself driving with no seat belt.

The Dubliner, who has 12.4m followers on Instagram, posted a video to the platform this afternoon which appeared to show him driving a car while not wearing a seatbelt.

The video, which has so far generated over 1.1m views, has been slammed by many of his followers on social media.

Some were more concerned about what appeared to be McGregor using a phone while driving.

And one commentor was just concerned for the Crumlin native, saying: 'Watch out dude we don't want to lose u'.

According to Citizens Information, the penalty for being caught not wearing a seatbelt on a public road is a fixed charge fine of €60.

If the fine isn't paid in 28 days it increases to €90.

Three penalty points are put on the offender's licence if they choose not to go to court.

If the driver is convicted in court for not wearing of a seatbelt, five penalty points are stuck on the licence and a fine of up to €2,000 can be dished out, even for a first offence.
