Dubliner bought lucky ticket after he woke up with 'itch in his hand'
The trick to winning some Lotto cash for yourself? Make like this Dubliner and tune in to your sixth sense.
The delighted winner, from Crumlin, said he is not a regular Lotto player but bought a ticket because he had a "feeling he can't describe".
Speaking after his €250,000 win, the man said he woke up with an "itch in his hand" and knew it was the day to buy a ticket.
The man won the top prize in last Wednesday's Lotto Plus 2 draw, and said if it wasn't for his "good feeling" he might never have bought the ticket.
“I’d buy a Lotto ticket every now and then, I’m not a regular player," he said at the Lotto headquarters this morning.
"But these past few weeks I’ve had a feeling that I can’t describe – like something good was coming my way.
"I woke up the other morning with an itch in my hand, so I gave my son a couple of quid and told him to go buy me a Scratch Card.”
The winner was joined by his son, two daughters and his partner to celebrate the special occasion this morning as he received his winning quarter of a million euro cheque.
“I won €8 on the Scratch Card, so I bought a Lotto ticket with the winnings,” he said.
The lucky ticket bought his ticket in Frehill’s Spar, St Agnes Park, Dublin 12.
“I actually watched the draw on Wednesday night but it didn’t even register that I could be a winner.
"I left it to the next day to check my ticket and I couldn’t believe it when I saw I’d won. I was in shock and still can’t believe it. I’ve never won anything in my life before this."
The happy Dubliner said the man planned to use the money to "look after my family".
"This will make the road ahead a little easier," said the man, who wished to remain anonymous.
There were two winning ticketholders of the Lotto Plus 2 top prize in last Wednesday’s draw (August 10) each winning €250,000.
The second winning ticket was sold in Hannon’s Daybreak in Dunmore, Co. Galway. This ticketholder has not yet claimed their prize
