Drug dealer blasted in gangland drive-by attack
54-year-old drug dealer David 'Daithí' Douglas was blasted three times in the chest in a drive-by style attack last night.
The criminal was shot while walking his dog just yards from his home on Killala Road, Cabra, north Dublin.
The car pulled up beside Douglas and a gunman opened fire.
The vehicle used in the hit has yet to be recovered by gardai.
Douglas was rushed to the Mater hospital, where he was clinging to life last night.
The career criminal was caught with €562,000 worth of cocaine in 2008 following a gardai surveillance operation.
He was sentenced to 10-years with five suspended in December 2011 after Judge Tony Hunt heard of Douglas’ serious previous convictions.
In 1983 he was jailed for 12-years after he was convicted of shooting with intent to kill a garda during an armed robbery.
