Driver killed after truck loses control and jack knifes at toll plaza
A man has died following a crash near the M1 toll plaza early this morning.
It is understood that the man was driving a lorry and appears to have lost control, struck a garda observational point and then jack-knifed.
The incident occurred shortly after 8.30am this morning.
Gardai, fire service and ambulance services attended the scene just south of the toll plaza at Gormanston.
The road is currently closed south-bound at Junction 9 Drogheda.
Diversions are in place and motorists are advised that they will be diverted onto the R132 and can rejoin the motorway at Junction 7 Julianstown.
The man is the fifth person to die on Irish roads since Friday.
