A Diocese in the US has confirmed they are investigating a priest who posted a video featuring himself talking behind an altar with an aborted foetus placed on it.

The New York Daily News reports that the Diocese of Amarillo in Texas is investigating the video posted to Facebook Live by Father Frank Pavone last Sunday.

The video, a small clip of which was also posted to Instagram, featured Pavone advocate a vote for Donald Trump in the US Presidential election as he believed he would protect unborn children.

During the broadcast he placed an aborted foetus on the altar.

“Father Frank Pavone has posted a video on his Facebook page of the body of an aborted fetus, which is against the dignity of human life and is a desecration of the altar,” said Amarillo Diocese Bishop Patrick J. Zurek in the Amarillo Globe News..

“We believe that no one who is pro-life can exploit a human body for any reason, especially the body of a fetus. The Diocese of Amarillo deeply regrets the offence and outrage caused by the video for the faithful and the community at large. The action and presentation of Father Pavone in this video is not consistent with the beliefs of the Catholic Church.”

According to the Telegraph, Pavone said the body was given to him by a pathologist for burial.
