Details of the upcoming industrial action by train drivers has been announced.

All train services will come stop for three hours on Friday October 23.

There will be no service from 6am to 9am on that day, the Friday before the October Bank Holiday weekend.

Another three-hour work stoppage will take place on November 6, again from 6am to 9am.

That is also a Friday.

Trade unions Siptu and the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action at Irish Rail early this week.

They are locked in a dispute with bosses about being paid for carrying out previous cost-saving measures.
