Defendant calls judge a 'four-eyed bastard' before conviction for trespass

A defendant in Carrick-on-Shannon District Court called a judge a 'four-eyed bastard' before he was then convicted for entering Leitrim County Council offices as a trespasser.

The Leitrim Observer carries the report into the case of Christy Stokes, who was convicted of breaking into the offices and handed an eight-month sentence.

Stokes, of 7 Rosebank, Carrick-on-Shannon unleashed his outburst at Judge Kevin P Kilrane after the judge made reference to a previous restriction on Stokes passing the Tesco roundabout side of the town, adding that he had been 'very lenient with this man'.

Stokes then said: 'You're not going to stop me walking past that Tesco roundabout. To hell with you, you four-eyed bastard.'

Gardai then tried to calm Stokes down before the judge handed him an eight-month sentence.
