Daniel O'Donnell voted off Strictly Come Dancing
Daniel O’Donnell became the third celebrity contestant to exit Strictly Come Dancing as he faced Kirsty Gallacher in the dreaded dance off.
The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples to face each other in the dance off.
This week, it was Singer and Entertainer Daniel O’Donnell and his professional partner Kristina Rihanoff and Sports News Anchor Kirsty Gallacher and her partner Brendan Cole.
Both couples performed their routines again; Daniel and Kristina did their American Smooth to Fly Me To The Moon by Frank Sinatra and Kirsty and Brendan performed their Paso Doble to Beautiful Day by U2 in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.
After both couples had danced a second time the judges delivered their verdicts.
Craig said: “One couple did really, really well in the dance off and one couple I am afraid made a lot of mistakes. I am going for the couple that was the most powerful, and that was Kristy and Brendan.”
Darcey said: “The couple I would like to save is Kirsty and Brendan.”
Bruno also chose to save Kirsty and Brendan saying: “I would like to keep the couple that committed less mistakes tonight, and that is Kirsty and Brendan.”
As Bruno agreed with Darcey and Craig, Kirsty and Brendan were safely through to next week. Head Judge Len Goodman said that he agreed with his fellow judges.
When asked by Tess if he had enjoyed his time on the show, Daniel said, “Absolutely – whatever I have given [to the show], I have received tenfold - absolutely and honestly. I want to say thank you to all the people who voted.”
Kristina added, “You were such a joy to work with; you are the most wonderful guy, always there with a smile, always ready to learn. It was an absolutely wonderful experience for me, so thank you so much.”
Sunday’s results show also featured a performance from Will Young, who sang his new single ‘Joy’ and danced alongside professional dancers, Aliona Vilani, Oti Mabuse and Karen Clifton.
The remaining twelve couples will take to the dance floor once more next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 24th October at 6.35pm with the results show on Sunday 25th October at 7.15pm on BBC One.
