The man killed in the terrifying attack at the Regency Hotel this afternoon is a well-known gangland figure from the Crumlin area.

The man was fatally wounded in the attack that also left other two men injured, one seriously.

Gardai are investigating the link between this brutal shooting and the gunning down of Gary Hutch in Spain last year.

The victim was a known associate of the Christy Kinahan drug cartel and in 2007 he was a suspect in the murder of rival gang hitman Gary Bryan.

In September 2006, killer Bryan was attacked on Bunting Road in Walkinstown in Dublin’s south city.

Bryan was shot six times by a gunman who pumped three shots into his head as he lay dying on the ground.

The victim was also known for his love of flash cars and he was often spotted driving around in his expensive motors.
