Young scum smash fire truck window as it was en route to incident

A Dublin fire truck was put out of service last night after youths smashed the passenger side window with stones.

The truck was en route to an incident in Neilstown, Clondalkin at the time.

Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that nobody was injured and that the truck was withdrawn from service for three hours.

A replacement truck was subsequently sent to the Neilstown incident.

“It is a very busy time of year for us and we would ask people to please respect our work,” a spokesperson told Independent.ie.

“Gardaí have been informed and are currently looking into the matter.”

South Dublin County Council, Dublin Fire Brigade and gardaí are appealing to communities to work together in promoting safety over the Halloween period.

They have asked people to report the collecting of bonfire materials to the council by calling 014149000.
