Woman pulled out of car and beaten by thugs during horror robbery

A lone female driver was left traumatised after two men pulled her from her car unleashing a barrage of kicks and punches during a terrifying robbery.

The woman, who is in her 40s, was travelling on the coast road between Tramore and Dungarvan in Co Waterford at 8.20am on Friday, January 22 when she heard a loud bang after something hit her car.

When she looked in the mirror, she saw a man "falling into a ditch" at the side of the road.

The woman stopped her vehicle in the worry that she may have hit someone.

However, as she came to a stop, she was immediately grabbed by another individual who pulled her from the car before launching a tirade of punches and kicks.

One of the assailants, who has been described as a non-national, pinned her to the bonnet of the car while the other man searched the vehicle for valuables.

A handbag and mobile phone were stolen during the ordeal.

The two men then fled the scene on foot and the woman was able to drive to nearby Tramore Garda Station where she reported the incident.

The victim is said to have been left “extremely traumatised” by the ordeal.

She suffered a number of cuts and bruises and a very large bump to her head following the attack.

Gardaí later learned that the object thrown at the woman’s car was a briquette of turf.

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact them at Tramore Garda Station on (051) 391 620.
