Two men arrested in Dublin by garda counter terrorism unit
Gardai investigating terrorist offences have detained two men in the capital.
A male Algerian national and a male Moroccan national, in their 30s and 40s respectively, were arrested in the Dublin area today for offences pursuant to The Terrorist Offences Act 2015, as amended.
Members of the Counter Terrorism International Unit conducted the arrests.
The men are both currently detained at Blackrock garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
A number of searches were also carried out in Swords, Stepaside, South Circular Road and Trim.
It is understood that the men are being questioned about suspected financial transactions linked to international terrorism.
The arrests and raids were carried out as part of a co-ordinated operation involving law enforcement agencies in a number of European countries.
Documentation and laptops are among items that have been seized in the searches.
