Two men who were arrested in connection with the botched robbery of a post office yesterday will appear in court later this morning.

Two suspects were taken into custody following an attempted armed robbery at a post office at Killnamanagh, Dublin 24, yesterday morning.

They are due to appear at Dublin District Court Number 1 at the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning at 10.30am.

Gardai said that two men pulled up outside the post office at Kilnamanagh in a red Toyota Corolla at about 10.55am.

The two occupants of this car, one armed with what is believed to have been a hammer, entered the post office and demanded cash.

No money was handed over and the men fled the scene in the red Toyota, which was later burned out at Treepark Road.

The two men, one og whom is in his 30s and the other in his 40s, went on foot towards Tymon North.

At this point they were intercepted by Gardaí responding to the incident and arrested. Both were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tallaght Garda Station.
