Gardai have seized two firearms, silencers, ammunition and drugs in a raid in Dublin, authorities have said.

Officers executed a raid at the premise in west Dublin at approximately 8.30pm last night. 

During the planned operation they discovered two firearms - believed to be 9mm pistols - along with two silencers and a quantity of ammunition.

A quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of €6,500 was also recovered.

The planned raid was carried out at a house on Deansrath Avenue in Clondalkin.

Two men were arrested in connection with the seizure, gardai said. 

A man in his 30s and a man in his 20s are currently detained at under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at Ronanstown and Lucan Garda Stations.

The latest gun seizure comes less than two weeks after gardai seized a number of high-powered firearms in the Tallaght area

Officers from the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, with the assistance of Gardai from the Tallaght Drugs Unit, stopped a car on Greenhills Road and discovered the cache of weapons. 

The recovered firearms include an AK 47 assault rifle and ammunition, two .22 rifles and ammunition, and a loaded pump action shotgun along with silencers and telescope sights.
