Two gardai 'had sex with woman in station'

An internal investigation has been launched following allegations that two gardai had sex with a woman at a station in the south east of the country.

One of the officers concerned was also recently arrested on suspicion of abusing his children.

The Star reports that the garda in question was detained for several hours last month on suspicion of sexually assaulting his two sons and is alleged to have had sex with a local woman in an office in his station.

Another man in the same station is also alleged to have slept with the woman, at the station where they both worked.

Sources stressed that the alleged relationships were consensual and that there was no suspicion of an assault.

Garda bosses have sent in forensic teams to ascertain whether any sexual activity occurred on the premises, according to reports in The Star.

It would be a major disciplinary issue if the men are found to have had sex with a woman at the station, with one source saying “it’s being taken extremely seriously.”

According to reports one of the men has been transferred, but the other is still stationed at the station and is working normally.

It is believed that both men could face sacking if the allegations are found to be true.

Earlier this month one of the men concerned was arrested on suspicion of child abuse, he was formally suspended during his detention, but it’s believed that this was lifted when he was released.

Reports indicate that the abuse allegations when a female relative made a formal complaint several months ago.

Gardai are continuing their investigations into these claims and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
